The Story of Al Massira

From the streets of Cairo to a global movement

Our Journey

1998 — The Vision

In the late 1990s and on the bustling streets of Cairo, a question was being asked. What if there was a way to share the greatest story ever told as a journey of discovery for small groups to watch, discuss, and grow together? A way that honoured hospitality, welcomed honest questions, and created space for genuine exploration without pressure.

2005 — Team Formation

A team came together in Cairo—primarily Middle Eastern believers who were passionate about presenting the gospel within their own cultural context. They understood the questions, the hesitations, and the deep hunger for spiritual truth that many carry but rarely voice.

2008 — Naming & Structure

The project was named “Al Massira” — The Journey. The team developed a chronological structure to trace God’s story through the prophets: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and John the Baptist, and leading to the ultimate revelation of Christ and the mystery of the Trinity.

2009 — Production

Over eighteen remarkable months, a small crew filmed across thirteen countries, capturing footage at historically significant biblical locations. Using everyday Arabic dialect and a minimal production approach, the team created authentic and accessible content. Despite considerable financial and logistical challenges, every episode was completed.

2011 — Global Launch

After more than a decade from concept to completion, Al Massira launched globally. Training to use the film series and accompanying resources began expanding around the world – Africa, Asia, the Americas, Australasia, Europe and the Middle East

2012 — Official Status

The Al Massira Trust was officially incorporated as a legal entity with charitable status.

2022 — Journey Together

The Al Massira Trust began the development of Al Massira Journey Together, a second series of resources creating a discipleship journey for small groups of new believers and due to launch in 2027.

What Makes the Al Massira Journey Different

Cultural Authenticity

Created by Middle Eastern believers using everyday Arabic dialect—not a Western import, but content born from within the culture it serves.

Biblical Foundation

The content draws exclusively from biblical sources, presenting the prophets’ story chronologically without comparative religious analysis.

Safe Space

Designed for honest dialogue and exploration—no pressure, no agenda beyond creating space for people to discover truth at their own pace.
